Tarik Sektioui, head coach of the Moroccan local national team, affirmed during the AFCON 2025 draw ceremony that Morocco is fully prepared to host the tournament in an exceptional manner, befitting the stature of African and Moroccan football.
Speaking to the press, Sektioui said: “Today marks a historic moment as our country hosts this major continental event. The organization will be of the highest standard, as confirmed by the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).”
He added: “We are proud of the support of King Mohammed VI, whose forward-looking vision has significantly advanced Moroccan football, alongside the great efforts of the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa.”
Sektioui highlighted the noticeable progress in African football, with teams now closely matched in strength, making the competition even fiercer. He stated: “In Morocco, we are ready for the challenge and are working hard to achieve the best results to make our fans proud.”
He concluded by saying: “Despite the challenges and the strength of participating teams like South Africa, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, and Nigeria, we are determined to deliver a performance that meets the aspirations of Moroccan fans.”
